Arriving at The Orangery, on an crisp October morning I could immediately see why Jaye and Alex had chosen it as their wedding venue. Although the weather Gods hadn’t been that kind to us and the rain clouds we’re rolling in, the tree lined entrance and mix of Autumnal coloured leaves were a beautiful sight to greet me. The exclusive venue has a classically romantic feel with stunning ornamental gardens, impressive stone pillars and even a secluded Tempietto with beautiful floral displays – all making wonderful backdrops for the day.
The excitement was already building when I arrived at the Garden Cottage to meet Jaye and her bridal party, in no small part because her family now live across the globe and this was the first time they’d all been together for several years. With the bubbles flowing it was great fun capturing the buzz of the morning’s preparation.
Over in the Orangery I found Alex and his groomsmen adding the finishing touches to their styling with the typical banter you’d expect (and I love to shoot) from a groom with his best men. As Alex began to greet his guests you could feel the emotion begin to rise as everyone took their seats in anticipation of the ceremony, which was a wonderful service with several family members reaching for their tissues.
Although the rain had fallen while we were indoors, this didn’t put off the adventurous couple from exploring the grounds for some private portraits. I love this point in the day, getting the chance to capture those secret moments for newlywed, but this time we weren’t alone as Alex and Jaye wanted to be joined by their pet dogs (Darcey & Dora) who are a big part of their life. And although we held out breath to make sure they didn’t jump up onto Jaye’s dress to greet her it was great fun having them included in the shoot.
Returning to their guests for congratulations, clinking glasses and a mighty confetti explosion the reception began with a blast of fun and continued through to the speeches, and on into the night’s revelry. It was an absolute pleasure capturing this fabulous couple celebrating their day surrounded by love and laughter with their nearest and dearest.
